The Royal and Ancient Golf Club (R&A) is a private golf club. R&A is being run for the advantage of the members of the club. Since 2004, the Club has got responsibility of publishing the rules to a private company, R&A Rules Ltd. In 2004, the University of Chicago Press published a translation of this book. It was named “The Rules of Golf in Plain English”, by authors – Bryan A Garner and Jeffrey S. Kuhn, who is the official of USGA rules. The rules booklet that was recently published, the 31st edition, is officially valid from the starting of the 2008 to the end of 2011. The major difference that has come with new edition is a rule about Club Chiefs.
