The game of golf has a very long history. Though the perfect details about the origin of this game are not very clear, however, the most acceptable thing is that this sport originated from Scotland in the 1100s. A game similar to the golf was mentioned in D?ngxu?n Records, a Chinese book of 11^th  Century. Some information about a game similar to the golf was also mentioned on February 26, 1297 in the Netherlands in a city called Loenen aan de Vecht. Here the Dutch played this game with a wooden stick and leather ball. Modern golf is accepted to be a Scottish invention, as the game was described in two 15th century laws boycotting the playing of the game of gowf.

Golf’s greatest players such as Tiger Woods, Jeev Milkha Singh, Jack Nicklaus and Annika Sorenstam, Willie Andersen have made the game of golf great over a long period.  Today, sponsorships from different companies have become a great part of the sport, and players earn more from their sponsorship contracts than the sport itself.

In United States and in Mexico, the game of Golf is being played according to the rules committed by the United States Golf Association (USGA). Periodically, USGA publishes a book known as “Decisions on the Rules of Golf” to solve the problems raised by the rules of the golf.
